Officer in Charge of Navigational Watch
Phase I (Deck Cadet)

The course is an important step for persons wishing to develop a career in seafaring. Participants will be trained in the rudiments and theory of nautical studies and will learn all the basics of shipboard operations. Objectives To prepare participants for sea service / employment on seagoing vessels with the necessary qualifications to pursue further training to become deck officers

Phase II

Twelve (12) months at sea including six (6) months mandatory Bridge Watch-keeping duties.

Phase III (Class III)

This course provides further education and training for Deck Officers at the Operational level

Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch
Phase I (Engineering Cadet)

The course is an important first step for persons wishing to develop a career in seafaring. Partici­pants will be trained in the rudiments and theory of marine engineering and will learn all the basics of marine engineering operations.
Objective
To prepare participants for further training as a cadet on seagoing vessels with the necessary qualification to pursue further studies to obtain certification as an officer in charge of an engineering watch.

Phase II

Minimum of six (6) months sea-going experience in the engine room of a merchant trading vessel.

Phase III (Class III)

This course is designed to train junior engineer officers to be in charge of an engineering watch on ships of 750 kW propulsion power or more.

Diploma in Transport with Logistics (Bridging)

This course is designed to upgrade the competence of Class III Deck Officers who have made or plan to make the transition from shipboard operations to land-based shipping operations. The Diploma in Transport with Logistics is a full-time, five-months programme with special emphasis placed on Port Operations, Maritime Management, Maritime Law, Maritime Insurance, Commercial Ship­ping, International Trade and Finance, Economics of Shipping, Marine Pollution and Environmental Studies and Inter-modal Transportation.

Diploma in Marine Engineering (Bridging)

This course is designed to upgrade the competence of persons who have completed the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Industrial Systems, Operation and Maintenance and are interested in a maritime career. The Diploma in Marine Engineering is a full time, five-months programme with special emphasis on 7 Maritime Legislation, Ship Construction and Stability, Main and Auxiliary Marine Machinery, Safety and Emergency Response and Marine Pollution and Environmental Studies.
